What is the SGPA to Percentage Calculator?
SGPA to Percentage Calculator is a web tool that converts your SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) to a percentage. If you have received a spga score in a semester of BCA, BSE, YA, or B.Tech., this calculator will help you understand what that spga score means in percentage terms.
What is SGPA?
SGPA stands for Semester Grade Point Average. This is a number that reflects how well you performed in your studies during a semester. This is how it works:
- Each subject you study in a semester carries a certain number of credits.
- You earn grade points based on your marks or grades in each subject.
- SGPA is calculated by taking the average of these grade marks, considering the credits of each subject.
If you still don’t understand, let’s take an example to understand this:
Suppose you have four subjects: math, science, English, and history. In every subject, you get marks, and on the basis of those marks, you are given a grade point. And for every subject, there are some credits that show the importance of that subject. These grade points and credits are used to calculate the SGPA. For example:
- Mathematics: 85 marks → 9 grade points, (3 credits)
- Science: 80 marks → 8 grade points, (4 credits)
- English: 75 marks → 7 grade points, (2 credits)
- History: 65 marks → 6 grade points, (1 credit)
Now, to calculate SGPA, these grade points and credits are multiplied.
- Math: (9 grade points × 3 credits) = 27
- Science: (8 grade points × 4 credits) = 32
- English: (7 grade points × 2 credits) = 14
- History: (6 grade points × 1 credits) = 6
And now let’s add the total credits. After this, the answer obtained by multiplying the credits and grade points is also added.
- Total Sum (Grade Points × Credits) = 27 + 32 + 14 + 6 = 79
- Total Credits = 3 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 10
Now use the formula to calculate SGPA.
- SPGA = Total Sum of (Grade Points × Credits) / Total Credits
- SPGA = 79 / 10
Thus, your SGPA will be 7.9. This means that you have performed well overall throughout the semester. SGPA tells you the average grade points of all your subjects.
